Jesus is a historical figure, but he is more than a good teacher or moral example—Jesus is God in the flesh, the tangible image of the invisible God. Through Jesus' words, works, ways, death, and resurrection, we see the heart and character of God revealed. We also learn how to have a relationship with God. Jesus entered our broken world to bring forgiveness, healing, and hope. In overcoming the world and death, Jesus declared that he is the way, the truth, and the life—the One who makes it possible for us to know God personally and to experience God's presence now and forever. The scriptures tells us of his ways, words, and works.
Following Jesus means confessing with our mouth and believing with our heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead. It also means committing our lives to God's priorities, which starts with learning from the way Jesus lived his life and walking in the same ways. Jesus invited His followers to live differently—to love enemies, serve others, seek justice, show mercy, and walk humbly with God. As we read the Scriptures and listen to the Holy Spirit, we begin to understand the way of the Kingdom that Jesus announced—a way marked by grace, truth, humility, and love. Through faith in Jesus, we are restored to a relationship with God and called to live as God's people and ambassadors in the world.
To live like Jesus is to practice God's way in everyday life. We carry God's goodness and good news to others. We also root ourselves in community, the church, where we are kept accountable and collaborate with others in seeking to know God through prayer, worship, and the scriptures. We learn together to love others as Jesus modeled love towards us. The church is about being a simple community of Jesus followers—rooted in the scriptures, empowered by the Spirit, and shaped by grace. Together, we grow in faith, serve one another, and join God’s redemptive work in our neighborhoods and world.
If you’ve said “yes” to Jesus—or if you’re exploring what it means to follow Jesus—we would love to walk with you on that journey. We want to pray with you, encourage you, and help you find the resources you need to grow in faith. Our hope is that you will root yourself in a local church community that enables you to walk closely with Jesus. We invite you to reach out and let us know where you are in your journey—and we’d be honored if you began that journey with us. We gather each Sunday at 10 a.m. at River Corner Church.
